Microwave Tips
There are two things that everyone can do to increase the longevity of their microwave.
First , do not open the microwave door while the unit is running. It breaks power contact at the door switches and shortens the life of door switches. If you need to stop the unit while it's running, just hit the pause or stop button first and then open the door. Door switches are very common repairs on microwaves and this is one way to make them last longer.
Second, and this one's fairly simple, wipe out your microwave periodically. Do not let grease or splatter marks stay in there as the microwave energy is attracted to them and will ultimately burn a hole through the paint in the microwave causing a short and possibly killing the magtron tube (the part that makes the microwaves). There's a plate cover that you can purchase at most stores that will make cleaning easier, as you can just put the cover in your dishwasher.
Cheers to a long and happy life for your microwave!
